I just returned home from a Thanksgiving trip to visit my family in Shreveport, LA, reportedly the “coolest city ever.” What’s that? You haven’t heard that? or even really heard of Shreveport? Let me assure you that it is in fact a thing… it says so on this sign.

Bonus points for anyone that can come up with more than one way to say “Shreveport.”

Anyway, I arrived in Shreveport eager to see my family and excited about a change of scenery. I had every intention of finding so many great things to blog about, however, this is most of what happened…

Food

(provided in part by my aunt and fellow blogger, Lisa Mays)

Drinks

Hot Tub

repeat (with a few like that, who wouldn’t?)

The last day I was there I decided I had to do something I could write about before I left. My parents had told me about the Touchstone Wildlife & Art Museum which they had driven by in neighboring Haughton, LA. Taxidermy wildlife museum? Sign me up! My friend Tracy arrived from Baton Rouge around 3:40pm and a quick google search showed that the museum closed at 4:30pm that day. Perfect! Haughton was about a 20 minute drive from my parents house (and we always beat the GPS!) There’s no way we would need more than 30 minutes to explore a wildlife museum in Haughton, LA right?

Right!

Mostly because when we arrived at 4:10pm on a Saturday afternoon… they were closed. We got out of the car to make sure we had read correctly and were met with a locked door and this sign.

LIES!!!!!! GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT LIES!!!!!!

It didn’t just close either. There was no one there to address our obvious outrage, there was no one inside sweeping up, and most importantly there was no one there to tell us we probably shouldn’t climb on the rusty animal statues by the road. So, on that note I give to you, the outside of the very closed Touchstone Wildlife and Art Museum.
