Street Performing

Before you consider this one, it is important to consider local laws as well as cultures in the place where you intend to street perform. Make sure that you are not going to end up in jail for your efforts! A little research online should help you decide if you are able to do this one. Perhaps you have a talent such as singing, dancing or even public speaking. Maybe you are a gymnast. These are all talents that other people love to watch and you could consider sharing in the hope of a generous donation from passers by.

Hotel or Bar Work

This may seem like an obvious one, but again you need to make sure that you are not invalidating the terms of your visa (if appropriate) to do it. Many bars and hotels are looking for temporary workers around the world. Shifts are often flexible, but also long. It is likely that you will only be receiving very little in terms of wages and the conditions could be tough. However, that said there are also some great businesses to work in throughout the world. Just be a little bit cautious.

Seasonal Work as a Travel Rep

Working for a travel company as a representative can be another great option where you can combine living abroad with a great career. Many people do this year after year. It is likely to involve you living away in the same area for six months of the year. Many of these roles offer living accommodation as a perk of the job. They are not likely to pay much more than the minimum wage but if you are able to secure a role with a well known travel company then conditions are generally very good.

Online Trading

Almost all stock trading and investment is done online at websites such aCMC Markets these days. With an internet connection and computer or mobile device, a person is able to keep up-to-date with the world of investing and trading on a real-time basis. An important thing to note is that a person does not have to be rich to become a stock trader or investor; small amounts of money and the right investments can turn into enough to be able to sustain someone whilst they travel. This type of work can be done from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

Farming and Agriculture

Many large and small farming operations across the world look or seasonal workers to help pick fruit and vegetables. House Sitting

Working as a house sitter is another possible option. While many of these roles will not pay you very much, if any money, they will at the very least provide you with accommodation during your stay. This of course can really help you to save money on your travels and can potentially be a lot more fun than staying in hotels!

There is an abundance of work available for travelers across the globe. However, to find it and make a success of it, you will need to do some research before you go and possibly make contact with potential local employers. This will help you to get started. Just make sure that you do check was it legal for you to do as a traveler in the country you are visiting.

Really great tips – I’ve seen street artists and performers really take off throughout much of the world, I know that in some countries, like here in Australia, you do need to seek permits to be able to play in public places, but it’s definitely a great way to pick up some extra cash if you have a skill or talent you carry with you. I personally like freelancing online though this does make it difficult to keep working when you visit remote locations with no connection 🙂 Great post!
